Carbon Fiber Octagonal Tubes, although less commonly used compared to round carbon fiber tubes, are still very strong, can be uniquely suited to applications where other components are to be attached during assembly. The flat sides provide a convenient surface for mounting other parts, be it bonded into place using a structural adhesive or fixed by other means. molding compression or roll-wrapping processed is a method of manufacturing continuous lengths of fiber reinforced section by pulling continuous strands of carbon fiber through resin and a former before curing the resin all in one process.
Carbon Fiber Octagonal Tubes feature 100% longitudinal fiber orientation which gives them excellent strength along their length but does make them vulnerable to crushing forces. For applications where none-uniform forces are likely to be encountered, including crushing forces, roll wrapped carbon fiber tubes should be considered as an alternative.

How to Cut and Shape
This carbon fiber tube can easily be cut and finished using simple workshop tools like a hacksaw and some wet-and-dry paper. Cutting and finishing a carbon fiber tube can also be perfectly safe if you follow some basic safety precautions.

1.Are You Able To Cut The Tubes At Custom Lengths?
We do not currently offer a custom cutting service for our tubes and molding compression or roll-wrapping processeds.


2.Is It Possible To Cut A Thread Into Your Carbon Fiber Rods And Tubes?
Unfortunately it is not possible to cut a usable thread into carbon fiber composites. The nature of the material is such that the teeth on a thread would not be able to take any load and would break up either during thread turning or the first attempt at using the thread.
Where it is desirable to have a threaded method of attaching the tube or rod, it is commonplace to fabricate and then bond an aluminium insert into the tube or over the rod end which can then have a thread cut into it.



3.How Do I Prepare The Carbon Surface For Painting?
Many people prefer the natural finish of these carbon products , however if you wish to paint them for your specific application then you can do so. A light key with a fine abrasive paper like a 1200 grit wet and dry paper and a thorough degrease and clean using mild detergent or an alcohol wipe should be all that is needed to prepare the surface for paint.
