A Bridge bearing is a component of a bridge which typically provides a resting surface between bridge piers and the bridge deck. The purpose of a bearing is to allow controlled movement and thereby reduce the stresses involved. Possible causes of movement are thermal expansion and contraction, creep, shrinkage, or fatigue due to the properties of the material used for the bearing. External sources of movement include the settlement of the ground below, thermal expansion, and seismic activity.

These bearings are components which allow controlled movement by the bridge, by transferring concentrated forces from one structural member to another one - thereby reducing stress.It has sufficient vertical stiffness to support vertical loads and can transfer the pressure from the superstructure to the bridge abutment.

Working Principle
    There is an elastomeric pad in the pot of the pot bearing, it has fluid properties when it in the state of three-phase stressed, making use of this feature can achieve large rotation of the bearing. In addition, when a relative motion occurs between the PTFE plate which placed on the piston and the stainless steel plate, horizontal displacement can be achieved. Pot bearing can meet the requirements of large end reaction, large horizontal displacement and large rotation, it is suitable for the bridge with large span and large end reaction.Product Feature

Function:    Transferring various loads from the superstructure to the pier, and being able to adapt to the variable position (displacement and corner) generated by factors such as load, temperature change, concrete shrinkage, etc., so that the actual stresses of the upper and lower structure are in accordance with the designed calculation formula.

Construction

The installation of bearings mainly includes the following steps:

1.Foundation Inspection and Cleaning: Check whether the foundation at the bearing installation location is flat and solid, in accordance with the design requirements. Remove debris, dust, and oil stains from the foundation surface to ensure that the foundation is clean and dry.

2.Bearing Positioning and Installation: According to the design drawings, accurately determine the installation position of the bearing and use measuring tools for positioning. Place the bearing at the predetermined position and adjust the levelness and elevation of the bearing to meet the design requirements.

3.Fixing and Connection: Use bolts, welding, or other methods to firmly connect the bearing to the foundation. For bearings with anchor bolts, pass the anchor bolts through the reserved holes in the bearing and tighten the nuts to ensure a tight connection between the bearing and the foundation.

4.Inspection and Acceptance: After the installation is completed, conduct a comprehensive quality check of the bearing installation, including the levelness, elevation, and positional deviations of the bearing. Ensure that all indicators meet the design and specification requirements. Only after passing the inspection can the subsequent construction processes proceed.
