1.Product Description
Carbon fiber square tubes, also known as carbon fiber square profiles or carbon fiber box sections, are hollow structures with a square cross-section made from carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites.
LK fiber square tubes are manufactured using state-of-the-art techniques, including pultrusion as well as compression molding technique to ensure high quality and durability. In the pultrusion process of fabrication of carbon fiber tubing the continuous pulling of carbon fiber composites is mixed with resin matrix through heated forming dies to create continuous length of tubes which provides tubes with unidirectional properties.
In compression molding, on the other hand, involves multiple wraps of carbon fiber prepregs in various weave types. The result is a densely reinforced carbon composite with excellent strength and stability. Our carbon fiber square tubes are available in multiple surface textures, including twill weave and plain weave, and come in a gloss or matte finish.

3.Advantages
Exceptionally rigid
High dimensional stability and UV resistant
High corrosion resistance
High thermal conductivity in some forms
Very low thermal expansion (approx. 8 times lower than steel, 11 lower than aluminium)
Light weight is a very important advantage of carbon fiber tube
The tensile strength is high, and the tensile strength of carbon fiber tubes is also very high
Shear strength. Shear strength refers to the strength performance of the transverse force received. The shear strength can be changed by different layers of carbon fiber pipes.
Convenient construction: it occupies less space, does not need large machines and tools, does not need wet operation, does not need hot work, does not need on-site fixed facilities, and has high construction efficiency.
4.Typical Uses
Carbon fiber square tubes is ideally suited for use in radio controlled (RC) aircraft, helicopters, U.A.V's and other models but would be equally suited to other precision applications like robotics and automation.
- Robotics and automation
- Telescoping poles
- Metrology instrumentation
- Idler rollers
- Drone components
- Telescopes
- Lightweight drums
- Industrial machinery
- Guitar necks
- Aerospace applications
- Formula 1 race car components
5.Technical Details
Carbon fiber square tubes, although less commonly used compared to round carbon fiber tubes, are still very strong, can be uniquely suited to applications where other components are to be attached during assembly. The flat sides provide a convenient surface for mounting other parts, be it bonded into place using a structural adhesive or fixed by other means. Pultrusion is a method of manufacturing continuous lengths of fiber reinforced section by pulling continuous strands of carbon fiber through resin and a former before curing the resin all in one process.
Carbon fiber square tubes feature 100% longitudinal fiber orientation which gives them excellent strength along their length but does make them vulnerable to crushing forces. For applications where none-uniform forces are likely to be encountered, including crushing forces, roll wrapped carbon fiber tubes should be considered as an alternative.
How to Cut and Shape
This carbon fiber tube can easily be cut and finished using simple workshop tools like a hacksaw and some wet-and-dry paper. Cutting and finishing a carbon fiber tube can also be perfectly safe if you follow some basic safety precautions.

---------- FAQ ----------
1.Can I Paint The Pultrusions And If So How Do I Prepare The Surface For Painting?
Generally, the pultrusions are used'as-is ' and don't require painting. If you really do need/want to paint the pultrusions then a light key with a fine abrasive paper like a 1200 grit wet and dry paper and a thorough degrease and clean using mild detergent or an alcohol wipe should be all that is needed to prepare the surface for paint.
2.Are These Pultrusions Magnetic?
No these pultrusions are not magnetic.
3. Are These Pultrusions Manufactured From High Modulus Carbon fibers?
No, this pultrusion is manufactured from standard modulus fibers.
4.Are You Able To Cut The Tubes At Custom Lengths?
We do not currently offer a custom cutting service for our tubes and pultrusions.
5.Is It Possible To Cut A Thread Into Your Carbon Fiber Rods And Tubes?
Unfortunately it is not possible to cut a usable thread into carbon fiber composites. The nature of the material is such that the teeth on a thread would not be able to take any load and would break up either during thread turning or the first attempt at using the thread.
Where it is desirable to have a threaded method of attaching the tube or rod, it is commonplace to fabricate and then bond an aluminium insert into the t ube or over the ro d end which can then have a thread cut into it.
6. What Is The Maximum HDT That These Pultrusions Can Sustain?
The HDT of these pultrusions is 80°C.
7. Is It Possible To Cut A Pultrusion With A Hacksaw?
Yes absolutely! If done carefully, a hacksaw can be used to cut a pultrusion.
8.How Do I Prepare The Carbon Surface For Painting?
Many people prefer the natural fi nish of these carbon products , however if you wish to paint them for your specific application then you can do so. A light key with a fine abrasive paper like a 1200 grit wet and dry paper and a thorough degrease and clean using mild detergent or an alcohol wipe should be all that is needed to prepare the surface for paint.
9.Is 14 Mm Outer Dimension Measured Between Flats? Or Between Points?
The 14mm outer dimension is measured across two flat faces.
